Belly Babies

The chiaroscuro five (chiaroscuro = an Italian term which literally means 'light-dark')

Puppy 1 = Black with partial collar on left shoulder. One white sock.
Puppy 2 = Black with partial collar on right shoulder. Tiny white stripe on the nose
Puppy 3 = Black head and body with white chest and front feet.
Puppy 4 = Black head, full white collar, white front feet.
Puppy 5 = Black and white with maybe some dark gray his on sides and back legs.
Puppy 3 is the only female. At this point I don't know who will have long or short hair, but I
suspect at least 1 and 2 will be short hair.

I'm working on their forever names, but the more I look, the harder it is!

Play

Ouch...Hey...Got you back!

TaDa......

Introducing the puppies...names and length of coat are still to be determined. Sex and order of birth is indicated on pictures. Black dogs, especially puppies, are difficult to photograph! You can look through my blog to see other pictures of black/white/tan Icelandics. Three of the puppies born in 2011 were all short haired, and on the Feb 21, 2011 and March 14, 2011 blogs you will see some grown up pups that are long haired.

Friends

The puppies continue to grow, but until their eyes open and they're mobile, there's really not much to see, so I thought I'd post this great video of Olli, now age 3, and his new best friend. (You can see other pictures of Olli on some of the old posts from July 2009). Most herding dogs do really well with children, Icelandics are exceptional!

More Pictures

The puppies were born April 15, so they are still very much little puppies. They can't here or see, but they know where the warmest spot in the pen is and where mom is. I've also included one of big brother Edsson helping out. He's just a little over a year old and is fascinated by the pups and leaves them toys. Kippa seems to think it's okay for him to come visit.

Miss Lukka

Another one of our puppies came to visit this week. Brekkubruns Lukka is 3 and is very smart and loving...but I'm a bit prejudiced.
