The Weekend

The sun was out, the weather was perfect, and we brought out the Ikea kid's tunnel. (It's still holding together after many years of play.)
 Everyone had a great time.

and then it was time to take a very long nap....

Oh My!

We've been busy...

Portraits

The puppies are changing and growing every day so I thought it was about time for another round of individual pictures, but I have to laugh because they look so very, very serious in these photos.

About Edgar and Kippa

The parents of these puppies are U-CH Sherwood Forests Gunnar (Edgar),CGC and Vinlands Urthur (Kippa). Both are AKC registered and have OFA good hips.CERF exams are done yearly (documentation on request) and have always been normal.

Edgar is a long coated Icelandic with strong double dew claws on the back feet. He weighs about 37 pounds and stands approx 16.5" at the shoulders. His coat is easy to care for and rarely needs brushing. Edgar has done both obedience and agility classes, but is most happy when digging for mice or chasing our resident eagles. His temperament is gentle and easy going, but he is definitely the leader of the pack. He gets along well with most dogs, both male and female, and is comfortable with cats, horses and llamas. His favorite foods is peanut butter.

Kippa is our little athlete. She is wiry and sleek and moves gracefully. She is a short coated Icelandics with double dew claws “on the ground” on her back feet. Kippa weighs about 27 pounds and is about 14.5 " at the shoulders. Her tail is a double curl. Kippa has done both obedience and agility and will do more agility once the puppies leave. She loves to swim and retrieve her very special pink and black horse ball, and like Edgar, loves to dig for mice. She has a deep bark but a sweet temperament, and one of her favorite spots to sleep is under the bed. We have her son, Edsson, from the last litter, and although he looks nothing like his mom, he has her love of water and retrieving, which the puppies of this litter should also have. Kippa’s favorite food is salmon.
Kippa is an Icelandic term for “she who holds the reins”, and she does.

Candids

Ink on her way somewhere.

Magnus, Ink, and Korpur investigate concrete.

Siggi and Ink wonder what's down there.

Ink puzzled by Icelandics that are not black and white.

Korpur, Magnus, and Siggi wonder what's up there.

Getting to Know You 3, 4, and 5

Inja, who we call Ink, is the only female in the litter, just like her mom Kippa was. She can keep up with the boys and doesn’t hold back one bit, but she is also the one in this litter who most likes to snuggle. Her coat is long, and wonderfully soft and shiny and she will have some silver coloring on her shoulders.  She has double dew claws on both back feet and a tiny white tip on the end of her
tail. She is very smart!

Korpur is the quiet one. He watches what the other dogs do and then jumps in. He loves toys – He has a wonderful white collar, or ruff, and the sweetest expression. Double dews on both rear feet. And he is very smart!

Magnus is the largest puppy and carries himself with confidence. His black color is more of an ash gray black instead of a true black and is not easy to see in photos. I don’t know if he will get lighter or remain this gray/black.He will also have some silver patches on his legs. He has double dew claws on his back feet and is very smart.

Getting to Know You 2

Siggi is almost a twin of Skuggi except his white patch is on the other shoulder and he has longer white stockings. He is a little larger than his brother, and is happy to play with his siblings or nap on my lap. When all the dogs begin to bark, he would rather yodel with a little  puppy howl. Has double dew claws on both his back feet and will be short haired. Siggi is very smart and is sold.

Getting to Know You

Skuggi is a dog with a lot to say! He was the first born, and although he is the smallest in the litter, he has a large personality. He’s interested in everything and everybody and always wants to be part of what is happening. If given the opportunity, he loves to play with the big dogs.  He has double dew claws on his back feet, has a partial white collar on his left shoulder, and will be a short haired Icelandic. He is very smart! Skuggi will be available after June 15.

Big brother Edsson thinks herding puppies is almost as hard as herding cats.
